Cost of Living Drives a New ‘Escape to the Country’
From Countryside to Coastline: The Ever-Changing British Quest for Wellbeing and Home Our enduring love affair with the countryside stretches back centuries, from royalty visiting the spa towns of Leamington and Bath to evacuees seeking refuge in rural England during the World Wars. Yet, it’s not just the green fields that call us — the seaside has long offered a restorative escape, from Victorian cold-water plunges to the recent pandemic-driven rush for coastal space. Today, rising city living costs and shifting lifestyle priorities fuel an ongoing migration from urban hubs to rural and coastal havens. Whether driven by affordability, wellbeing, or the search for that perfect garden, the British public’s property searches reveal a deep-rooted desire for space, nature, and community. At Viewber, we understand this evolving landscape. Our nationwide network supports agents, landlords, and home seekers across the UK — from bustling cities to tranquil villages — making property viewing and management seamless wherever your journey leads.

Labour’s beefed-up version of the former Conservative Renters’ Reform Bill failed to gain Royal Assent before MPs headed off on recess, leaving the legislation in limbo until September. Behind the pause lies a series of potentially game-changing amendments from the House of Lords – from unannounced council inspections and a dedicated pet damage deposit, to possession protections for student lets and faster resale rules for ex-rentals. But with “ping pong” between the Commons and Lords still to come, none of these changes are guaranteed to survive.
